Breaking news, with this write-up from NBC:

"We seem to be dealing with a worst case scenario, someone driving around shooting," Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas told NBC News.

Matyas said there are three shooting scenes. None of the victims at the three scenes appear connected, he said.

The suspect is described as an around 50-year-old white male, driving a dark blue Chevy HHR sport-utility vehicle. The vehicle may have some damage from a hit and run, state police said.

The shooter started at near an apartment complex around 5:45pm local time [edit: local affiliate WOOD still trying to confirm this shooting was related to the others], and later moved on to a car dealership, and then to a Cracker Barrel.

Update: T~~here is now a 4th shooting location, according to local NBC affiliate WOOD~~ This was erroneous information. Police apparently did go to the vicinity of OP Avenue and 6th Avenue to pursue the suspect, but not because there was another shooting:

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Police are responding to shots fired at OP Avenue and 6th Street in Texas Township, near the Cracker Barrel. There is police involvement at the scene, Kalamazoo County undersheriff says. Unclear if cops or possible suspect opened fire.

The locations reportedly started at the apartment complex in a northeastern suburb (Comstock Northwest) of Kalamazoo and then moved southwest across the city itself — past Western Michigan University to the Seelye Ford/Kia dealership — and now into the suburb of Texas Township, which is on the southeast fringe of the city.
